ABOUT

The Boston Jazz Foundation (BJF) is an artist-led, volunteer-powered nonprofit organization dedicated to building the future of jazz in Boston and beyond. Founded by musicians and community organizers, BJF was created from the belief that artists should have a seat at the table in shaping the future of the music they create.

What began with the creation of the Charles River Jazz Festival—Boston’s largest free jazz event—has grown into a movement. Through festivals, concerts, education programs, and community initiatives, BJF is creating new opportunities for artists while connecting audiences across generations, neighborhoods, and cultures.

As one of the fastest-growing jazz organizations in the country, BJF represents the next generation of jazz: artists who honor the tradition while pushing the music forward. We are building a more inclusive and sustainable ecosystem where emerging voices are supported, established artists are celebrated, and communities have access to world-class music.

Powered by a dedicated team of musicians, creatives, and volunteers, BJF proves that meaningful change can come from the community itself. We are more than a festival producer or concert presenter—we are a movement of artists and supporters working together to ensure that jazz continues to evolve, inspire, and bring people together for generations to come.
